Political Expert Praises NPP’s Patriotic Institute for Upcoming Government Roles
Political commentator Dr. Jonathan Asante-Otchere has commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the leading opposition group, for launching the Patriotic Institute to shape appointments in future NPP governments. This follows the party’s announcement that certification from the new institute will be a prerequisite for securing roles in upcoming NPP administrations.
During the institute’s unveiling, NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua disclosed that it will provide both virtual and physical training sessions. He emphasized that attendance is mandatory for presidential hopefuls, parliamentary contenders, and party leaders.
Dr. Asante-Otchere highlighted the potential of this initiative to foster merit-based selections and strengthen the party’s institutional knowledge. “Requiring future appointees to complete this institute’s training is a promising step,” he noted. “Yet, with the uncertainty of when the NPP might regain power, the approach’s success hinges on execution details—whether online or in-person remains unclear.”
He added, “Those committed to democratic values should undergo proper training to truly understand the NPP’s core principles, enabling them to serve effectively if the party governs again. While the concept is solid, the finer points will determine its impact.”
